[Dr. Bob Scott, Extension Weed Scientist standing in a soybean field talking to a group of people at a field day] I want to point out what a program is to me, in my mind. What a program is when you come out with a plan [it] usually involves more than just throwing Ignite at it when you see you have a problem or RoundUp in RoundUp Ready beans. This is a planned, sequential program specifically designed around pigweed.
[Title slide - Residuals plus timely ignite for pigweed control] As long as you get off to a good start with your residual program, whether its Prowl or Envive or Prefix or Dual or whichever one you want to look at, and you're coming back with a timely 22-ounce application of Ignite, you put a good program approach together in these Liberty Link beans.
[Title slide - Can the herbicides be applied in one shot?] Somebody asked a question on a previous trailer: "Well that's real good, you've shown me sequential programs, what if I want to try to do it in one shot?" You know, my short answer is you can't on Palmer pigweed. Now if you're willing to let a few go, maybe you can, but as far as a perfectly clean plot we weren't able to do it out here, we had some sequentials.
[Are yellow herbicides still effective?] A lot of people ask, "Can we still get any good out of the yellow herbicides that we used to use?" We're still getting pigweed control. They were never perfect, they're still not perfect, but they can get you off to a pretty good start in a planned program approach.
